Photography Beginner – Digital Camera Features

· No Comments · Digital Cameras

What would you consider to be the best features of a digital camera?

More and more people are purchasing a digital camera due to its convenience and the fact that they’re compact. Digital cameras are also popular because you have the ability to download the pictures to your computer and share them with others.

There are so many different options you need to consider before you make a purchase. You need to look at your needs and what you plan to use it for before you make the purchase.

With digital Cameras you can take pictures at different speeds and light settings. This comes in handy when you’re taking pictures of sporting events and need to snap a lot of pictures quickly.

Distance may also be important so you’ll need to check on that before you make a purchase. Something else to consider is to have a camera with manual focus….. up your creativity.

The quality of your pictures is something else you need to consider. Quality is important when you have a photography business, so you want to get the best you can when it comes to pixels.

Your digital photos are made up of little tiny squares. The more tiny squares in your picture make a better quality photo. So you want to choose a digital camera a good SLR digital camera with 5 to 6 mega pixels. This will give you great  quality pictures of any size.

The extras are important for you to think about as well. Depending on the pictures you take and the locations you plan to use, a tripod may be something to consider. In fact a tripod is the first extra you should consider. You can use it, to make sure you are in your photos…and for times when a steady hand is important.

I like having a tripod when I am doing indoor portraits. Then I can make adjustments to my subject with out moving the camera.

You may also need long or short distances covered, so you’ll want to choose a lens that will handle your needs.

With a SLR camera you can always buy new lens for macro photography (close up). Or you can buy telephoto lens. But keep it simple to start. Learn the basics with a standard lens, 50 mm.

Now don’t make the mistake I did. My Cannon Rebel came with a 18-55 mm lens. I thought that was great….but it was not!  I was so disappointed in my pictures that I had a professional photographer look at my camera…great body but poor lens.

So if you are going to spend a little extra put it into good lens. You will be much happier.

As a photography beginner, uniqueness and creative are high on the list of things you want to experience. Digital cameras will give you so many options, but remember to stay basic…learn those skills and then move up grade.

So what are the best features of a digital camera?

  • Convenience – They can be compact and easy to carry around.
  • Price – Quality cameras are getting cheaper and cheaper all the time. You can get into a nice SLR for under $400.00 and a good compact camera for under $200.00. And a decent point and shoot for about $150.00.
  • No need to buy film. Perfect for the photography beginner. You get to make all the experiments and mistake you want and no extra cost for developing film.
  • Download pictures to your computer.
  • You can easily up grade – You can have a basic SLR body and upgrade to lens that are better and can give you more range.
  • Easy to learn – You can learn the basics and up grade right on one camera. You can run on fully automatic and then change over to full manual control.

So get busy…get your camera and have fun!
